Quantum frequency conversion based on resonant four-wave mixing

Quantum frequency conversion (QFC), a critical technology in photonic quantum information science, requires that the characteristics of frequency-converted photon must be same as input except for color. In nonlinear optics, wave mixing effect far away from resonance condition is often used to realize QFC because it can prevent vacuum field reservoir destroying state converted effectively. Under conditions resonance, experiments typically require strong pump light generate large interactions achieve high-efficiency QFC. However, generates additional noise photons through spontaneous Raman or parametric processes. Herein, we theoretically study another efficient scheme based on resonant four-wave system. Due electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT), this greatly suppress at low levels; consequently, inherit with high fidelity. Our research demonstrates if efficiency EIT-based close 100%, function and quadrature variance are almost probe photon.
